Where is this community located; How many Units

860 Clark St, Riverside; 15 units (4 bedrooms each)

Is this community exclusive for IDD adult children? Can the parent of the IDD adult rent a unit to live in the community

Yes, our model is to cater for IDD adults and Neurotypical peers. It is not designed for Parents to live alongside

Do adults bring their SLS/ILS services as they join this community?

Yes. Each adult will have the freedom to bring in their own SLS/ILS services.

Will it be a 1-1 IDD and neurotypical resident pairing?

Yes the model allows 1:1 pairing in each unit

What options are there for IDD adults to engage in day program/ work within the community?

FNC (Friendly Neighbors Community) will offer enrichment activities outside of the day program/work day. Each adult will have their own day program, ideally outside the Community

What are the expected interactions with the IDD and the neurotypical residents

Enrichment activities hosted inside FNC will be open for both IDD & neurotypical (NT) residents (e.g. Karaoke nights, movie nights, picnic, games etc)

NT residents may take up volunteer interaction opportunities as part of their residency agreement (e.g. buddy for activities, dinner nights, connection with family with video calls/text messages etc)

Will there be any criteria for neurotypical residents who rent to live alongside?

Yes, each neurotypical resident will apply for a spot and go through an interview and selection process. Some examples of criteria that we are considering:

Pass a background check
Preference to Special Education / Behavior / Psychology majors
Volunteering and partnering with residents

How many staff will you employ? ED, enrichment coordination?

We plan to start with 1 staff member (Community Manager) who will play multiple roles. Initially we anticipate significant parent involvement, with the support of Board of Managers. We will determine additional staffing needs once we start running

If an IDD adult is not quite ready to live by themselves. Could such an IDD adult be eased in.. by living in the community a few days a month. (assuming parent bought a share)

Yes. Transition can happen slowly according to the IDD adult’s need. A transition plan can be worked out with the resident

What is the approximate investment involved for a share, just to get an idea

Though this largely depends on the location, a good ballpark number can be the cost of a Condo near any major University in Southern California

Any ideas in addressing the significant staffing issues that exist in California now in this community

This is a systemic challenge across all of California, which is being addressed by Regional Centers and Staffing agencies. Our strategy is to build in close proximity to Universities to have an influx of available students who can step into the care provider roles if needed

Can an IDD adult whose parent do not own any share rent in the community?

Our model is purchase for occupancy. However the Board may choose to decide on a case by case basis Add an answer to this item.
